Hydration. You want to make sure that your lip plumper will be able to keep your lips moisturized.

Fine line reduction. A lot of lip plumping products are sensitive to the fact that a lot of women have fine lines starting as early as their 30s, so they will help prevent the appearance of vertical lies on your lips.

The right color. Some plumping products are tailored to match your favorite shade of lipstick, or you can even choose a lipstick that already has lip plumping elements in it.

How you apply your makeup each and every day can also greatly enhance the appearance of your pout. One quick and easy trick is to take your lip liner and draw the line around the outside of your lips rather than on your actual lip line. Now fill in your lips with your favorite shade of lipstick and you will instantly appear to have fuller lips.

Another trick is to apply your usual shade of lipstick, and then to add a dab of lighter colored gloss or frosted lipstick to the center of your lips. Blend it in so that it appears natural, and you will give your lips that natural look of appearing fuller and softer without even having to use a plumping product.

TIP: Try to avoid any products out there that are made to create a “suction” effect on your lips to make them appear plumper. Though this will work in the short run, within 30 to 60 minutes your lips will shrink back to their normal size.
